Meta Tag Checker and Generator
Use our Meta Tag Checker or Generator to quickly generate or check Meta tags of your website. Check if your open graph image is set correctly.
What are meta tags?
Meta tags are text snippets and image contents that show up on search engine result pages and also when someone shares your website on social media, for example, Facebook feeds, Messenger chats, Discord chats, Twitter (X), etc.
Meta tags matter because when someone shares your website on a social media site, the main hook to your website would be the image, title, and description shown in the shared link. If you do not specify meta tags, the website where you shared the link might show nothing.
Title tag advice
Search engines mostly display 70-76 characters in the search results for desktops and 60-70 characters for mobile devices. That's why our tool shows a red character count when you exceed 70 characters. It doesn't mean it's bad when you cross this limit. SEO is subjective. It does mean that your title has the chance of getting truncated in search engines, which might mean they may look incomplete.
Also, do note that Google may rewrite your titles if it's too long. So if you want to convey your message, you need to stick to the given character limit.
Description advice
Search engines mostly display 160 characters for description on desktop and 120 for mobile devices on their search result page. That's why our tool shows a red character count when you exceed 160 characters. It doesn't mean it's bad if you cross this limit. Same as when we talked about in the title advice, SEO is subjective and it does mean that your title has the chance of getting truncated in search engines.
Open Graph Images advice
Search engines rarely display open graph images, but open graph images are mostly important for social media. They are the most valuable content compared to other meta tags because they are displayed three times larger than your content. They act as a main hook for your website to attract visitors. Think of it as a YouTube thumbnail. While browsing YouTube, where does your eye go first? The title or the thumbnail? If the thumbnail is beautiful, you click the video. It's as simple as that.
